As per reports, it was Mitch Marner's overtime winning goal at just 1:22 into overtime that led the Canadiens to book a spot at the semifinal.
As per reports, Canada trailed late in regulation, with Czechia taking a 3–2 lead less than eight minutes from the end. But Nick Suzuki delivered a clutch equalizer with 3:27 to play, forcing sudden death and giving Canada a lifeline. Now, the team will be seen playing for chasing Gold at the men’s hockey semifinals match scheduled on Friday, and the team would be decided soon.

According to TSN, the Vegas Golden Knights winger sliced through the Czech defence and roofed a backhand to send the Canadian contingent in Italy into a frenzy. However, the team finally picked up a 4-3 victory over Czechia in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Apart from Mitch Marner, top players like Macklin Celebrini and Nathan MacKinnon also had significant contributions to the team. As per reports, Connor McDavid tallied two assists, tying the Olympic record with NHL players at 11 points, while, unfortunately, Crosby went into the locker room after sustaining an injury.
The player was injured five minutes into the second period after his right leg bent in an awkward direction after taking a hit from Czech defenceman Radko Gudas during the match. Earlier, Crosby set the record for points by a Canadian NHLer at the Olympics in Sunday’s 10-2 victory over France.
According to TSN, Canada won Olympic gold with its NHL stars in 2002, 2010, and 2014 before the league skipped the 2018 event. It is to be noted that the Czechs’ only victory over Canada at an Olympics came during a semifinal shootout at the 1998 Games in Nagano, Japan, as reported by TSN. It will now be interesting to see if Canada can book a spot at the final of the Olympic Games this year.
