NEW DELHI: The New York Jets made headlines by activating quarterback Aaron Rodgers, indicating a shift in the franchise's focus toward next season. Rodgers, recovering from an Achilles tear, was elevated from injured reserve to participate in the Jets' final weeks of the season for rehabilitation, according to coach Robert Saleh."It's all part of his rehab. Just having him on the field is a plus for everybody," Saleh told reporters. "It's a plus for him. It's a plus for his teammates. And so we're going to keep him up for practice."The Jets plan to start Zach Wilson at quarterback if he clears concussion protocol. However, if Wilson isn't cleared, Trevor Siemian will start, making him the fourth different QB to start for the Jets this season. The recent 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins showcased the Jets' offensive struggles, gaining a season-low 103 total yards with four turnovers and six sacks.Facing the Washington Commanders (4-10) in Week 16, the Jets aim to exploit the Commanders' struggling defense, which has given up the most yards (384.5) and points (30.2) per game in the NFL. Washington quarterback Sam Howell, despite recent struggles, will remain the starter. Coach Ron Rivera, possibly in his final days with Washington, maintained a jocular mood, concluding a press conference with birthday wishes to a reporter.
Injury updates for both teams include running back Brian Robinson, offensive linemen Charles Leno Jr., and Tyler Larsen missing practice for the Commanders, while Jets' defensive end John Franklin-Myers (hip) sat out Thursday's practice.(With Reuters inputs)
