Turning Point USA is stepping directly into
Super Bowl weekend with a rival halftime event that aims to challenge the
NFL’s main stage. Co-founder Erika Kirk confirmed that Kid Rock will headline the All-American Halftime Show, airing at the same time as the Super Bowl LX performance led by Bad Bunny. The announcement has already fueled debate online, especially after Kirk claimed there is a “larger audience” for their alternative broadcast.
Turning Point USA challenges Super Bowl halftime show with Kid Rock headliner
Appearing on Fox News with host Trace Gallagher, Erika Kirk framed the event as both cultural and personal. Gallagher asked, "You know there is an appetite for this. I'm wondering what you hope comes out of this. What is the message you are trying to convey?"
Kirk responded, "It's powerful. What Charlie always loved and knew, he wanted to be in the forefront of the culture war. He would be fist-pumping to this. He'd be so stoked. What better way to honor him than to get in the middle of this!"
The alternative show was organized after Bad Bunny was announced as the official Super Bowl headliner. Green Day later joined the NFL lineup, raising the stakes for viewership. Kirk made clear that her event is meant to offer what she described as a family friendly option.
“There's an audience that wants that. There's a larger audience that wants ours. We're going to make it amazing. I'm so excited. Our team has worked so hard with the artists that have teamed up with us,” she said. “I just want to say thank you to them. It's very brave of them to do this. And they partnered with us without hesitation. and it's actually been a huge blessing. It's going to be an unbelievable Halftime Show!”
Kid Rock echoed that competitive spirit. “We plan to play great songs for folks who love America,” Rock said. “We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath. Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible … or is it?” He added, “He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”
With politics and pop culture colliding, Super Bowl Sunday may deliver more than just football.
