The New England Patriots are officially on the clock, and it's not about just the kickoff for Super Bowl LX. With their massive showdown against the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium just days away, the focus has shifted from the playbook to the training room. The team just dropped their latest injury report, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag for fans in Foxborough. While some big names are back on the field, others are still struggling to get healthy before Sunday’s flight to Santa Clara.
This game is a huge deal, it’s a rematch of that classic 2015 Super Bowl, and the Patriots are gunning for a record-breaking seventh title. But to get there, they need their stars at 100%. According to the official team report, five key players are currently being monitored. The good news? The energy at practice has been high, but there are still some nervous "will they or won't they" vibes hanging over a few position groups.
New England Patriots injury update: Drake Maye and Harold Landry III head the list ahead of Super Bowl LX
The biggest sigh of relief this week came when Drake Maye was listed as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. The 23-year-old quarterback has been nursing a right shoulder injury that gave everyone a scare after the AFC Championship win. He’s been really open about it, though, telling NFL.com, "I feel good.
I'll be just fine. I threw as much as I would at a normal practice." It’s a massive relief because Maye is about to become the youngest QB to start a Super Bowl since the legendary Dan Marino back in 1985.
While Maye looks ready to go, the defense is a bit more of a puzzle. Linebacker Harold Landry III has been dealing with a nagging knee issue that kept him out of the win against the Denver Broncos. He was back this week but only as a limited participant. It’s a similar story for offensive tackle Thayer Munford Jr., who is also limited with a knee injury. On the brighter side, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer seems to have put his hamstring troubles behind him, practicing fully and looking like a lock for Sunday.
The real wildcard is captain Robert Spillane. He’s struggling with an ankle injury and was the only one on the list who didn't practice at all on Wednesday. Even though he told NFL Network he’s "100% confident" he’ll play, sitting out practice this late in the week is always a red flag. The Patriots have a deep roster, but losing a leader like Spillane right before facing a tough Seahawks offense is the last thing they want.
