SHIMLA, June 13: Former Pakistan captain Salim Malik, serving a life ban for his alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal, and compatriot Ejaz Ahmad would visit India to play in the eight-team 14th Maharaja Padam Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament which was inaugurated here on Wednesday.
Malik and Ahmad will represent Sialkot Cricket Club from Lahore, Pakistan, which will take on seven local teams in the tournament to be played at Rohru.
Other participating teams include ICL Chandigarh, ITC, Delhi, KCA Karnal, Legend Cricket Club Nagpur and LIC Chandigarh.
Indian all-rounder Joginder Sharma is a part of the BSNL team while Ishant Sharma, who has been selected in the Test team for the England tour, was scheduled to lead Sahara India team but will now miss the tournament after selection in Indian team, Rohru Cricket Association General Secretary Hardayal Bhardwaj said.
International refrees S K Bansal and Suresh Sarthi and noted commentor Sumit Bansal would be seen in action in the week-long tournament, Bhardwaj said.
