Michael Porter Jr.’s heartwarming Christmas surprise for his mom steals the spotlight
Several times, Michael Porter Jr. has surprised his mother, Lisa Porter, with brand-new vehicles. In late 2025, he gave her a high-end SUV for Christmas. In a heartfelt expression of appreciation for her sacrifices in raising eight children, he also shared heartfelt videos that went viral.
He recently gave her a brand-new BMW X7, and the dealership shared the event on social media, as seen in posts from bleacherreport and BMW of Columbia, MO. Michael Porter Jr. had previously given his mother a car. His summer has been extremely interesting. The Denver Nuggets selected the former Missouri standout with the 14th pick in the June NBA Draft.
In the past, MPJ managed to take use of some of the advantages that come with being a professional. To express his gratitude for everything his mother has done for him over the years, Porter Jr. purchased her an automobile. This week, Porter Jr. gave the surprise and posted a photo of it to Instagram.
His mother initially queries what's going on in the video, questioning why others are using their cameras. She then offers Porter a strong hug after learning that her son is giving her a car. Along with the video, he shared a sentimental caption:
“Mom...I love you so much! It's such a blessing for me to be able to bless you like this, it's been a dream of mine! You are an angel to me and the most incredible mom in the world. There is so many things you've done for us kids that are so selfless of you I can't comprehend it…”
It continued:
“I wanna say thank you for stopping your career of being a professional basketball player to raise 8 kids. Thank you for being a stay at home mom and homeschooling all of us. Thank you for being the last one to go to sleep and the first one awake. Thank you for the endless amount of clothes and dishes you've washed for us growing up…”
It concluded:
“Thank you for all the food you've cooked for us. Thank you for making sure we all made it to our AAU tournaments and summer camps even when the money wasn't always there. But most of all thank you and Dad for raising us to trust God's word and lean on Him! I know I'm a knucklehead sometimes but I just wanna make you proud…”
In terms of sports, Porter has been battling health problems and underwent a second back surgery this summer, but according to the NBA, "there is no plan at this point to have him sit out the 2018-19 season." Every game, Michael Porter Jr. wears a brace on his left leg so that his foot can move normally.
The brace, known as "ankle foot orthosis," or AFO, is made to help stroke victims or others with nerve damage move their feet and ankles correctly. Porter Jr. wears the medical device since his back surgeries have left him with a drop foot. A medical disease known as "drop foot" causes nerve damage that makes it difficult for a person to lift the front portion of their foot when walking.
Before playing in his first NBA game, MPJ underwent two back surgeries. Despite recovering from both procedures, his back problems caused nerve damage. Porter's lower spine contains injured nerves that attach to the peroneal nerve, which is in charge of dorsiflexion. He needs to wear an AFO every game since he is unable to raise his left foot properly, which puts him at risk of falling all over the court.
