India win one silver and four bronze at Asian Junior Wrestling Championships

NEW DELHI: Grappler Mehar Singh bagged a silver at the Asian Junior Wrestling Championships in Phuket, Thailand to round off an impressive day for the Indians who also claimed four bronze medals.
Competing in the tournament under new FILA rules, India's overall tally has reached eight medals courtesy three bronze won in the Greco Roman (GR) category by Nitin (55 kg), Prabhpal Singh (84 kg) and Parveen Dagar (96 kg) on Friday.

In the 120kg Greco Roman final, Singh was comprehensively beaten by Kim Min Seok of Korea with a cumulative score 3-11 in the two periods of the bout and the Indian had to settle for silver at the Saphan Hin Indoor Sports Complex.
Santosh Kumar Yadav (50kg) matted Daulet Daribaev of Kazakhstan 6-0 to win another bronze.
In the girls' section, Sheetal Tomar (44kg) defeated Haruka Uchijo of Japan 6-1, while Divyanshi Tyagi (51kg) defeated local girl Maliwan Muanhpor 6-2 to win bronze each.
The other bronze came from Seema (67kg) who floored her Taipei opponent Chen-Chi Huang 8-0.
