SNG girls, NBYS boys reign supreme

NAGPUR: It was a mixed day for Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana (SNG). The hosts expectedly won the girls crown but Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) spoiled their party by emerging champions in the boys category.
The week-long sub-junior invitational basketball championship, organized jointly by the Jain International School and Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana, concluded at the SNG courts here on Monday.
In an all-SNG girls title clash, SNG-A brushed aside the challenge of their B team 34-8 to lift the cup.
The boys final was a well-contested one with NBYS firing on all cylinders to quell the spirited challenge of the hosts. NBYS dominated the first and last quarters while hosts fought hard in the second and third quarters.

Girls: SNG-A (Neha Joshi 12, Siya Deodhar 6) bt SNG-B (Arya Hadke 6) 34-8 (10-1, 4-1, 8-5, 12-1).
Boys: NBYS-A (Ramnath Nayak 14, Pranav S) bt SNG-A (Rohit Paranjpe 10) 44-28 (16-0, 6-12, 2-14, 20-2).
