Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje: When and where to watch UFC Freedom 250, full fight card and more
The UFC is set to make history this weekend with its first-ever event at the White House. The promotion will stage UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn in Washington, D.C., as part of celebrations marking 250 years of the United States. The event will take place on June 14, which also happens to be President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
UFC president Dana White has called the event one of the biggest moments in MMA history. The card features several high-profile fights, including a lightweight title bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. Thousands of military members and invited guests are expected to attend the unique show.
The main event will see lightweight champion Ilia Topuria defend his title against former interim champion Justin Gaethje. In the co-main event, Alex Pereira will lock horns with Ciryl Gane. They will battle for the interim heavyweight title.
Other notable fights include:
Sean O’Malley vs Aiemann Zahabi
Mauricio Ruffy vs Michael Chandler
Josh Hokit vs Derrick Lewis
Bo Nickal vs Kyle Daukaus
Diego Lopes vs Steve Garcia
The event will begin on June 14. The main card starts at 8 p.m. ET in the United States.
Fans in the United States can watch through Paramount+ and CBS. Viewers in the United Kingdom can tune in through TNT Sports, HBO Max, and Paramount+.
There will be no public tickets for the White House seating area. Attendance near the Octagon is expected to be invite-only.
Dana White revealed that around 4,300 people will be inside the secured area. Most of those guests are expected to be military personnel. White described the event as a way to thank members of the armed forces for their service.
Fans can still register for free viewing access at the nearby Ellipse park. Giant screens, music stages, and entertainment activities will be available for those attending outside the White House grounds.
Security will be one of the biggest talking points of the event. The Secret Service will oversee safety operations because the president will be present.
Dana White previously spoke about the extensive security around the White House. He noted that armed security teams and snipers are regularly stationed around the property.
With thousands expected to gather around the White House, officials are preparing for one of the most heavily secured sporting events in UFC history.
