CHARLOTTE (North Carolina): Three birdies in a row at the end of the first round saw Arjun Atwal salvage himself from disaster and card an even par 72 in the first round of Wells Fargo Championships at Quail Hollow Club.
He was tied 57th. Staring on the tenth he bogeyed the 11th, 12th and 17th and had bogeys on second and sixth, too. His birdies came on the 15th, third and the seventh to ninth yesterday.
