CHANDIGARH: RoundGlass Punjab FC has roped in left-back Lalchhuanmawia (Chhuantea) Fanai from Mizoram for the upcoming 15th edition of the I-League, to be played between December 2021 and April 2022.
The physically imposing Lalchhuanmawia, popularly known as Chhuantea, made his professional debut for the erstwhile Punjab side JCT in the I-League before moving to Shillong Lajong.
He subsequently signed for Bengaluru FC, where he was part of the winning team in the 2014-15 Federation Cup and the 2015-16 I-League.
After three years with The Blues, Chhuantea featured for Mumbai City FC and FC Pune City in the Indian Super League (ISL), helping both reach the play-offs in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns respectively. He represented Odisha FC in the 2019-20 season before joining Chennaiyin FC.
Chhuantea is also a former India international and a winner of the 2015 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) championship.
Commenting on his new club, Chhuantea said, "The RoundGlass Punjab FC has shown a lot of ambition in this transfer window given the quality of players they've signed. It feels like an ambitious project and I'm excited to be a part of it. I can't wait to meet the team and begin pre-season training."

The signing comes in the wake of other stellar additions to the squad including John Johnson, Kurtis Guthrie, Travis Major, CK Vineeth, Robin Singh, Ashis Pradhan, Kean Lewis, Gurtej Singh, Shankar Sampingiraj, and Rino Anto.
