Mohun Bagan to have ceremony to receive I-League trophy on October 17

KOLKATA: More than seven months after Mohun Bagan clinched the 2019-20 I-League title, they will be receiving the trophy on October 17. The club will be organizing a programme at the premises for receiving the trophy, this was decided at an executive committee meeting on Wednesday.The club informed through a press statement that the trophy-receiving ceremony will be conducted by "maintaining all necessary Covid-19 protocols".The green and maroons had sealed the I-League crown on March 10 when Papa Diawara struck late to secure a solitary-goal victory over Aizawl FC at the Kalyani Stadium. However, Bagan had not received the trophy since then because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The trophy is likely to be handed over by All India Football Federation general secretary Kushal Das in the presence of AIFF Leagues CEO Sunando Dhar.The ceremony will most probably be held at the club ground and the club officials have applied for permission from all concerned authorities.Meanwhile, the executive committee members were apprised that ATK Mohun Bagan Private Limited --- the joint venture company formed upon an agreement between Kolkata Games & Sports Private Limited and Mohun Bagan Football Club (India) Private Limited --- will look after all football-related activities. "The remaining sporting activities of the club such as Cricket, Hockey, Tennis and Athletics will remain under the jurisprudence of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club," the press release stated.At the same time, it was also decided that the club tent would be opened to members and supporters on October 16.
