Everything we know about Sulfur Cube in Minecraft
Chaos Cubed is the next major game drop, and it is shaping up to be one of the most creative updates Minecraft has seen in years. It was essentially unveiled at Minecraft LIVE in March 2026, and it introduces a brand-new underground biome alongside arguably the game's most inventive mob in the form of Sulfur Cube.
The particular cube is a passive mob, and it features a weird functionality of absorbing other blocks. There are two sizes of the slime-type mob: large and small. The section below provides all the known information about the Sulfur Cube in Minecraft.
Unlike slimes and magma cubes, the smaller versions can actually grow up into large cubes over time. Essentially, the smaller cubes work similarly to baby mobs and can be fed a golden dandelion to prevent them from maturing.
The Sulfur Cube's most unique feature in Minecraft is its ability to absorb blocks and take on their physical attributes. Once a block is consumed, the cube's features all change based on what it ate.
For example, feeding it a stone block makes it behave like a football, and feeding it an iron block makes it far heavier and harder to move with repeated hits. Additionally, giving it wood makes it act like a cubic ball, and so forth.
However, it cannot eat walls, stairs, slabs, or fences. Functional blocks like crafting tables, furnaces, pistons, observers, TNT, and chests also cannot be consumed.
A Sulfur Cube that has absorbed a block cannot be damaged by your attacks, most mob attacks, fall damage, or explosions. Instead, it is launched when attacked, and the direction and force of the launch depend on where it is hit and how much damage the attack would have dealt. To remove the block inside, you can simply use shears on it.
The Chaos Cubed drop does not have a confirmed release date, but with Tiny Takeover landing in late March 2026, it is expected that the Sulfur Cube will arrive sometime in the second quarter of 2026. It has already been made available as part of the recent Minecraft Bedrock 26.20.23/24 beta and preview.
