Jasprit Bumrah got rid of opener Lahiru Thirimanne for naught as Sri Lanka were 28 for one at stumps on Day 2 of the Pink-ball Test against India in Bengaluru. It was quite challenging, the new ball can get you out, it was that kind of a wicket. I thought we batted well in both innings. We believe we can turn up tomorrow and get their wickets. I was trusting my defence, knew which one to play and which to leave, I got a good ball in the first innings, but I think I could have done better in the second innings. It was easier to bat against the spinners under lights, because of dew, but it was still challenging. I knew the areas where I could score and I wanted to wait for it. It was a mix of both - we didn't plan to bowl tonight, but with wickets falling, we felt we could bowl around 35-40 minutes and try to take a wicket or two.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami continue to probe the Sri Lanka batters. Both Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis playing the survival game with just under 10 minutes to go for stumps on Day 2. A tight 3-run over from Bumrah comes to an end. Shami to continue from the other end.

Dimuth Karunaratne ends Mohammed Shami's first over with a boundary down the fine-leg fence. Beautiful use of the wrists from the Sri Lankan skipper. An angled in delivery from Shami into the pads and it gets the deserved treatment. Jasprit Bumrah to continue from the other end.

A cracking start from Jasprit Bumrah. A wicket and just a single came off it. Bumrah got rid of Lahiru Thirimanne for naught with a peach that swung back in sharply after pitching. Thirimanne took the review in desperation but it went down the drain as ball-tracking confirmed that umpire Nitin Menon was spot on. So, India 9 wickets away from victory. Mohammed Shami to share the new ball with Bumrah from the other end.

Lasith Embuldeniya ends a terrific knock from Shreyas Iyer to claim his second wicket in the second innings. Trapped right in front of the stumps. Shreyas went for a desperate but ball-tracking confirmed that umpire Anil Chaudhary was spot-on with the decision. Shreyas walks back for 67. And still no declaration from Team India as Mohammed Shami arrives to the middle.

Session 2 Report - Rishabh Pant fireworks help India stretch lead to 342

A record-breaking half century from Rishabh Pant helped India build a commanding lead of 342 runs as the hosts finished the second session at 199 for 5 on day two of the day-night Test against Sri Lanka. Pant took the game away from the Lankans by going after the bowling as soon as he walked to the crease and the wicketkeeper quickly brought up his fifty with seven fours and two sixes. Made from 28 balls, his half century was the fastest by an Indian batsman, breaking the record set by Kapil Dev 40 years ago.

That's it! Dinner break on Day 2 in Bengaluru. 138 runs were scored and 4 wickets fell as India have taken their lead to 342 against Sri Lanka in this Pink-ball Test. The session once again belonged to India and was highlighted by none other than swashbuckling Rishabh Pant, who scored the fastest fifty by an Indian. Sri Lanka bowlers looked completely helpless against the assault from the Indian batters. India have now total control of this Test and only a miracle can save Sri Lanka from here.
