Sunny Singh said: "Mahi bhai please come back atleast for T20 World Cup later this year."
Ajsu-P chief and Silli MLA Sudesh Mahato, a fan and close friend of Dhoni, talking to TOI on Friday said: "Keeping Dhoni’s stature in mind, BCCI should have renewed his contract till he announced his retirement." Mahato added Mahi is the icon of Jharkhand and like every other Jharkhandi, he too wished to see Dhoni play the coming T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, his fans in Jamshedpur too are not happy with BCCI’s decision. Rakesh Prasad, who owns a shop in Sakchi market in the heart of Steel City, had often met Mahi when he was an upcoming cricketer with long hair and used to come down to Jamshedpur to practice or play matches at Keenan Stadium.
Prasad said Mahi is a thorough gentleman and had no ego and often frequented his shop during his city visit. He recalled how both used to discuss cricket in length only to be disrupted by other customers visiting his shop.
Prasad even distributed sweets when Mahi got a place in Team India. Prasad said Dhoni can still play a lot of cricket in the coming days.
Budding cricketer Ramesh Yadav said Mahi led Team India and won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and 2011 ICC World Cup. Yadav said: "Dhoni has brought Jharkhand on the world map and so I am proud of him."
Yadav said: "We want to see Mahi play," adding if he can play IPL then why not T20s.
Notably, Dhoni was spotted practicing cricket at JSCA stadium at Dhurwa in Ranchi. He also gave tips to the Jharkhand Ranji team.
