Asked to bat, India endured an early setback with Abhishek Sharma falling for his third consecutive duck, dismissed by Aryan Dutt, who finished with impressive figures of 2/19. Ishan Kishan provided early momentum with a brisk 18, while Tilak Varma (31) and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (34) rebuilt steadily through the middle overs.
The innings transformed dramatically once Dube found his range. After a watchful start, the left-hander unleashed a flurry of boundaries and six towering sixes to score a blistering 66 off just 31 balls at a strike rate of 212.90. He shared a decisive 76-run fifth-wicket partnership with Hardik Pandya, who chipped in with 30 off 21 deliveries. Rinku Singh added the finishing touches with a six as India plundered 75 runs in the final five overs.
In reply, the Netherlands fought gamely. Max O'Dowd and Michael Levitt gave them a steady start before Varun struck to remove O’Dowd. Hardik dismissed Levitt, but a 43-run stand between Bas de Leede (33) and Colin Ackermann (23) kept the chase alive.
Varun returned to break the partnership, dismissing Ackermann and then bowling Dutt off successive deliveries to swing momentum firmly India’s way. He finished with outstanding figures of 3/14 in three overs. Jasprit Bumrah also impressed, conceding just 17 runs and claiming one wicket.
Though Noah Croes’ unbeaten 25 and late blows from Zach Lion-Cachet reduced the margin, the Dutch ultimately fell short at 176/7. India now head into the Super Eight with a flawless 4-0 record and growing confidence.
