IND vs WI 4th T20I: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma soon to be in Team India's bowling plans
NEW DELHI: India are gearing up for the fourth T20I clash against the West Indies, scheduled to take place in Florida on Saturday.
Bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has revealed that the team is focusing on developing the bowling skills of promising young batters such as Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
According to Mhambrey, Tilak and Yashasvi possess spin-bowling abilities as part-time bowlers and are being groomed to contribute more significantly with the ball and it won't be long before they start bowling at least an over each in matches.
"When you have someone who can chip in, it is nice. I have seen Tilak and Yashasvi bowl since U19 days. They are capable of being good bowlers. They can work on it at this level. When you got options like these, it is nice to have them. We will see them bowl soon hopefully, we are working on it. It will take time. Soon, we will see them bowling an over at least," said Mhambrey in a pre-match press conference.
Paras also lauded pacer Mukesh Kumar for his performances on this tour, which saw him debut for India across all formats.
"I am extremely happy with his (Mukesh's) progress. Not many guys get a chance to play all three formats on one tour. He is the second maybe. To do so is fantastic. His thought process and approach are fabulous. He is someone who should come here, play against tough opponents and wickets. I am happy with the character he has shown. We will have to be smart about his workload. He is a young kid, has played a lot of domestic cricket. There is a lot of quality," he added.
India staged a remarkable comeback by securing a 7-wicket victory in the third T20I. With this win, India kept their hopes alive in the ongoing five-match T20I series. India will be eager to deliver another outstanding performance when they square off against the hosts in the fourth T20I on Saturday.
Mhambrey expressed happiness with the way the team bounced back in the third match.
"I am extremely happy with the way we have come back. Even in the first two games, we were not much behind. We just could not seize the opportunities. Had we done so, results could have been different. The way we played the third T20I, we tick all the boxes across all the departments. We are only going to go up from there," the bowling coach said.
WEST INDIES SQUAD: Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran(w), Rovman Powell(c), Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Roston Chase, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy, Oshane Thomas, Odean Smith, Shai Hope, Jason Holder
INDIA SQUAD: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Sanju Samson(w), Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi, Umran Malik, Ishan Kishan, Avesh Khan.

Some belated thought from the bowling coach. India won the '83 WC only because we had many all rounders in the team. England won the T20 WC & ODI WC for the same reason, India is the only nation, where genuine allrounders become either pure batsmen or bowlers, thereby negating team's balance. It's a captain and the coach's ability to develop a batsman to roll his arm for an over or two w/o conceding too many. We cannot win ODI/T20 matches with one dimensional players, the basic reasons our BCCI and Selectors missed in their strategy.Read allPost comment
