INDORE: After losing first two ODIs against India, the Australian team led by
Steven Smith got down to work for the third ODI of the series as they sweated it out in a gruelling two-hour nets session at Holkar stadium on Saturday morning.
The high voltage match at Holkar stadium on Sunday is expected to be a do or die match for the Australians. After the warm up session, the Australian team began the nets session around 9.30am.
While the rest of the Australian team practiced on the ground, captain Steven Smith was seen practicing at the indoor cricket academy on the stadium premises.
Concerned about the pitch due to rains in the city over the past few days, Australian players including
David Warner checked its surface.
Warner also had a word with MPCA's chief pitch curator Samandar Singh Chouhan and was appreciative of maintenance of the wicket and the ground. Players
Glenn Maxwell and Steven Smith had played at Holkar stadium earlier this year for IPL.
After the Aussies were done with their nets session, the men in blue arrived at the stadium for their practice round.
Team India began practice at 1.30pm under bright sunshine as the sky remained clear all day.
Rohit Sharma walked through the pitch checking its condition. After assessing it, he gave his team mates a thumbs up.
"Both the teams are very happy with the pitch and appreciate the condition of the pitch. We did not any rain a day ahead of the match and the sky remained clear throughout the day.
The sunshine has helped improve the pitch ahead of the match," said MPCA chief pitch curator Samandar Singh Chouhan. Meanwhile the Indian team started off with a warm up session in a circle and hit the nets later on where the bowlers along with budding cricketers from MPCA bowled for batsmen.
Crowd favourite and captain
Virat Kohli was seen playing football before the net practice session after which he stepped into the nets for a few minutes of practice.
