Asian Games: Pravin Ojas, Abhishek Verma clinch gold, silver in men's compound archery

NEW DELHI: Indian archers continued their impressive performance at the 19th Asian Games, with Pravin Ojas Deotale and Abhishek Verma securing gold and silver medals, respectively, in the men's compound archery event. Pravin clinched the gold medal by defeating Abhishek with a score of 149-147 in a closely contested final.
India's compound archery team has been exceptional at the Asian Games, contributing significantly to the country's medal tally.

This success marked India's ninth medal in archery, including five gold medals, and represents the best-ever performance by India in the compound archery category.

The achievement is particularly significant as it helped India reach a historic milestone in the overall medal count at the Asian Games. With the addition of these medals, India's total medal count crossed the 100-mark, showcasing the nation's remarkable performance in the tournament.

As of now, India has accumulated a total of 100 medals at the Hangzhou Games, comprising 25 gold, 35 silver, and 40 bronze medals. The Indian athletes have displayed exceptional skill and determination in various events, contributing to the country's success on the international stage.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam, another talented Indian archer, had previously secured a gold medal in the women's compound archery event by defeating South Korea's Chaewon So with a score of 149-145.
Aditi Gopichand also made her mark with a silver medal in the women's compound archery, outperforming Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly with a score of 146-140.
The consistent success of Indian archers at the Asian Games reflects their dedication and excellence in the sport, further solidifying India's reputation as a formidable force in international archery competitions.
