Review in images:

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max - Best bargain in E-SUVs?

2/11

The ‘Max’ angle:

The Nexon EV Max promises to offer long range in an affordable package. It gets a bigger 40.5kW battery pack paired to a 105kW motor producing 141 hp and 250 Nm torque.

3/11

Higher top-speed and new alloy wheel design:

The Nexon EV Max has a 0-100 kmph time of 9 seconds and a top speed of 140 kmph. It also gets disc brakes on all four wheels that sport a different design for the alloy wheels.

4/11

ARAI certified 400+ km range:

The EV Max’s highlight is its ARAI certified range of 437 km on a full charge. This can easily translate into 320+ km in real world conditions.

5/11

Interior upgrades:

Inside, the EV Max now gets a drive selector with digital display, mode selector and multi-mode brake regeneration. It also gets wireless charging, EPB and Auto Hold.

6/11

Low on cabin storage:

While the cabin of the Nexon EV Max is up to date, we found it to be low on storage capability as the door bottle holders did not have enough space and the centre console did not have any cup holders as well.

7/11

Ventilated seats and air purifier:

The Nexon EV Max also gets ventilated seats at the front that have three modes. The seats are covered in perforated Makarana Beige leatherette and an air-purifier is on offer as well.

8/11

Easy to drive:

The EV Max is a comfortable SUV to drive around town, the floorboard is 10mm higher due to bigger battery which compromises space inside. However, bad roads and highway cruising are tackled very nicely in the Max.

9/11

Fast-charging:

The EV Max supports charging of 3.3 kWh at home to as high as 50kW from a public charger. Buyers can also go for a 7.2kWh home fast charger for an additional Rs 50,000.

10/11

Cost of running:

A Nexon EV Max would approximately cost Rs 400 to fully charge in Delhi. During our review, the energy consumption translated into roughly Rs 1 per km. For each 1kWh discharged, we got out a range of 7.4 km.

11/11

Price and conclusion:

The XZ+ Lux variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 17.74 lakh, which is almost Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the MG ZS EV. As a package it is well appointed in performance and features and definitely a strong candidate.
