JAMSHEDPUR: The Indian Archery Association (IAA) has decided to send the Indian archery contingent to London a fortnight ahead of the commencement of the Olympics. With an aim to ensure complete acclimatization, the federation has planned to send the team quite a few days before the start.
"Our events will begin from July 27, therefore, we have decided to send the archers to London about 10 to 12 days ahead for acclimatization," said coach of the Indian women's archery team, Poornima Mahato.

She said although there were proposals to send the team about three weeks prior to the beginning of the Games, the federation found that needless. Based on past experiences, the federation felt the archers might lose much of their energy in the practice sessions should they land in the host city that early.
"If players land in the host city too early, there is a possibility of their getting exhausted by the time the actual competition starts," Mahato said over phone from Kolkata.
