Delighted father finds hand of God in success

HYDERABAD: There was an air of excitement at the Directorate of Oil Seeds. With Saina Nehwal's father Harvir Singh Nehwal deciding to watch the match with his friends and colleagues at his office rather than at home, his work place turned into his abode.
Relatives, friends and the media were all welcome. Each was offered a seat. It was a theatre-like atmosphere with so many squeezing into the office space.Everybody around seemed to be muttering a prayer. However, a hushed silence descended once the match began. There were more sighs as China's Wang Xin began to dominate.
There were roars of joy when Saina scored a point. And decibel levels began to rise towards the end of the first game when Saina appeared to take control and have the measure of the Chinese.
Once Wang conceded, an emotional Harvir burst into tears. "It's all because of the grace of Lord Venkateswara," he declared. "Though it's not fair to think in this manner but because God wanted her to win the other girl must have got injured," he said.
