Soori Loves Sandhyam Movie Review: An ordinary love story fuelled by gore

The film opens with Soori (Abhimanyu Kashinath), recently released from jail, desperately looking for Sandhya everywhere. The story revolves around Sandhya (Apurva), a wealthy young woman, falling in love with Soori, a humble artist who makes a living by painting murals and sketches on walls. Sandhya’s brother (Prathap Narayan), an aspiring contractor, is against their relationship. Using his power, he sends Soori to jail. Can Soori reunite with Sandhya?Soori Loves Sandhya is a romantic-action drama that follows a very familiar trope. It’s about two lovers fighting against the whole world that is trying to rip them apart, with class, status, ambition and societal pressure acting as catalysts. The story is told through flashbacks. The highlight of the film is its climax, but it delivers graphically violent and disturbing content, which may not be liked by many. The climax is surely heartbreaking, but it is also hard to digest, especially for the faint-hearted, because of the extreme graphic content.Abhimanyu shows a lot of improvement when compared to his last outing. The movie gives him an opportunity to wear multiple hats, and show off more skills as a performer. Apurva provides good support with her presence. Prathap Narayan delivers what is expected out of him. Director Yadav Raj has presented a familiar love story in a different frame, with an unexpected, heart-wrenching climax. SN Arungiri’s music goes with the flow without being heavy or extra. From a technical standpoint, the film is shot well, especially the travel sequences.Soori Loves Sandhya tells a story of love, strength, and the determined search for redemption. While it may not deliver an exceptional experience, it makes for a one-time watch for its decent mix of action, and drama propelled by decent performances.
