Sumit Sangwan is the third Indian teenagers in the strong 8-member boxing squad (7 men and 1 woman) for London Olympics. The 19-year-old lightheavyweight boxer qualified for 2012 Olympics by winning gold in the Asian Olympic Qualifiers at Astana in April 2012.
Sumit beat Tajikistan's Dzhakon Qurbanov 14-9 to bag his maiden senior international gold in his debut event.
The teenager from Karnal (Haryana) outclassed Jordan's Ihab Almatdault 24-12 in his semifinal bout to become the seventh Indian to qualify for the London Games.
For Sumit, it was his first senior international event after getting the better of Olympian Dinesh Kumar in the national trials.
