These are the most demotivating things bosses say

Let's check out these!

Good leaders are those who inspire others with their words and actions. How they command an audience or their group of employees shows how good these bosses are, at their job. However, some bosses and leaders are not always very supportive and inspiring. They tend to say condescending and demotivating things that completely pull an employee down. Here are some common examples of demotivating things that bosses say.

2/5

“I can understand this but…”

If your manager says a ‘but’ always, that means they are not really willing to listen or understand you. It gives the impression that you do not think that the idea is valid or not presentable. From the employee’s perspective, the boss isn’t ready to agree to their idea. Furthermore, if your manager doesn’t provide an explanation to their ‘but’, then it’s very demotivating.

3/5

“Do this. It’ll only take you 5 minutes”

Focusing on the ‘only’ word makes it look like your boss thinks the particular task will only require some time and that they are asking you do to something that’s not very meaningful because if it had been, they would’ve done it themselves.

4/5

“I need you to calm down”

When someone, especially your boss says, ‘calm down’, it can sound very condescending and annoying. The employee may need to calm down, but telling that to an employee in the face of a difficult situation isn’t exactly the way to go. A good boss would certainly find better ways to make the employee understand.

5/5

“At the end of the day…”

When a boss says this, it indicates they are saying that at the end of the day, what they say is the only thing that matters. It is a testament to bosses who are rigid and not willing to listen, understand or agree to new creative ideas. This can be very demotivating for an employee who is looking for more areas to grow and learn about.
