Avoid these conversations with your in-laws

Do not talk about these things with your in-laws

Whenever it comes to the in-laws you must always tread carefully. Saying the wrong things, holding the wrong conversation or saying something you should not have can always have consequences you never wanted to face. So why even take the risk? Here are 5 kinds of conversations that must always be avoided with your in-laws, that could help you out and save you from getting into sticky situations.

2/6

Your sex life

They may be awesome, open minded and you are very comfortable with them, but never ever discuss your bedroom life with them. Even if your mom-in-law asks you if everything is fine in that department, you smile or laugh and leave the room. No matter how bad your sex life is. Even if it is regarding your attempts to make a baby!

3/6

Religious beliefs

This is a very sensitive matter especially when you have different religious beliefs in the house. If you are sure that your in-laws are open to discussions without getting hostile, then it is fine but in general, this is a topic you must stay away from. You want to vote for a different party? Go ahead and do that. You do not have to reveal your vote.

4/6

Reacting to views and opinions

If they have a different opinion on different topics and they offend you or infuriate you, try to avoid giving that instinctive response. Take a deep breath and analyse your words if you must say something. Do not get into an argument.

5/6

That annoying gifting habit

Generation gaps can be a bummer. One aspect that may annoy you is the different style of gifting. No matter what your in-laws give you, accept it graciously. It is the gesture that counts. If they are not at all of your taste, you could always pass it on, or get them exchanged. But if they like to see you using it, it is okay to use a few things.

6/6

Cooking

No matter how horrible your mother-in-law’s cooking is, don't ever tell her that or even express your disappointment in a house full of your in-laws. Even your husband or wife may not take it well because it is the mother we are talking about.
