Mothers, pay attention

There is no doubt that motherhood is a life-altering event for women. Imagine making another human from scratch, pushing it out of your vagina (or cutting open the abdomen in case of a C-section delivery) and taking care of that little ball of life for the rest of your life. Sounds pretty harrowing, doesn't it?

2/12

Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Even after giving birth, a woman’s body goes through a host of changes to accommodate the needs of a newborn. This is why it comes as no surprise that a lot of women experience intense feelings of sadness, anxiety and even crying spells after childbirth. Even though it is really common for new mothers to feel overwhelmed and upset, it is a topic which is not openly talked about.

3/12

Answer these 7 questions honestly

While it may be a little normal to feel down and out for 2 to 3 weeks after childbirth, if the feelings extend beyond this time frame, it may be the time to get things checked. If you are a new mother and feel that you might be suffering from postpartum depression, take the below-mentioned quiz to find out.

Answer these 7 questions honestly, keeping in mind how you have been feeling for the last 1 month:

11/12

If most of your answers are A or B

You may be suffering from postpartum depression and you should consult a therapist to look further into it. If the symptoms do not subside or fade away after two weeks, it is highly likely that you are suffering from postpartum blues. Closely analyze what you are feeling and if your mood swings and temperament seem to be getting worse, you must seek help immediately.

12/12

If most of your answers are C or D

As a new mother, it is understandable if you are scared and wary of how things are rapidly changing around you. The transformation from a woman to a mother can be overwhelming and may put you under a lot of pressure. You may further consult a professional medical practitioner to understand what you are feeling in a better manner.
