Winter greens that can aid weight loss

The moment mercury drops down, many slack about their weight loss commitments. While physical activities are more ignored during winters, having the right amount of food can compensate for this and can keep the weight loss practice going. Methi leaves

Nobody dislikes these bitter tasting green leaves. Be it with potato or with carrot, methi is the ultimate favorite of all. So what does this wonder food contain? Fenugreek as it is called in English, contains innumerable nutrients. It has low calories and is a strong antioxidant. Fresh leaves of fenugreek contain ascorbic acid and β-carotene. Eating methi in generous amounts reduces the risk of diabetes, improves weight loss, reduces inflammation and is also helpful for those having heart and blood pressure related complications.

Radish leaves

Though its use is limited, compared to the radish, these leaves are no less nutritious and delicious than the white root vegetable. Radish leaves have a large amount of fiber. It has less calories; 100 grams of radish leaves have only 16 calories. With a good amount of fiber and less calories, radish leaves are extremely metabolism-friendly. Like mustard leaves, though it has a peculiar pungent smell, it can be cooked in several ways.

Mustard leaves

Makke ki roti, Sarson ka saag is one of the many things that binds the Indian subcontinent together. The strong smell of mustard leaves tempered with mustard seed, garlic and green chilli roast is a staple food in many homes during winter season. These are low calorie leaves enriched in vitamin C and fiber which aids in weight loss. 100 grams of mustard green leaves contain 27 calories.

Spinach

Who doesn't love spinach? A bowl of home cooked palak ka dal doesn't only satiate your hunger, it also provides several benefits which would gradually be visible if it is eaten over a season. One of the most favorite among Indians, spinach is eaten in various forms. Be it soup or a dish with potato or cottage cheese or even as fried fritters, these amazing leaves retain their nutrient values and pass it on to the human body. Apart from tons of health benefits it provides, spinach is low in calories. 100grams of these leaves contain 23 calories, and 99 mg calcium. Hence it is highly recommended for women and older people.
