Its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties can help to boost digestion and provide relief from other health ailments. You can add this spice while preparing curry or can even add clove powder to your beverages to reap its amazing health benefits. If you are someone who loves to drink tea then clove tea can also be an excellent choice.

​How to make clove tea

Ingredients:

2 cups of water

4-5 cloves

1/2 inch cinnamon stick

1/2 inch ginger

jaggery

lemon juice

How to make it:

Pour water into a deep pan and bring it to a boil. Remove the water from heat and add roughly crushed 4-5 cloves, grated ginger and cinnamon sticks in the pan. Let the ingredients steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain the water in a cup and add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 tablespoon lemon juice to it. Enjoy your spicy herbal tea.

​Common side-effects of clove tea

Spices are generally safe for consumption, but when consumed in excess you may have to deal with some common side effects. Drinking this clove tea once or twice a day is good for health and if you consume more then you may have to deal with gastrointestinal distress, muscle pain and fatigue. Pregnant or breastfeeding women must be particularly careful with the quantity of clove tea. Excess intake of spiced tea may even prove to be harmful to their babies. If you feel vomiting and nauseated after drinking this tea, do not continue it. In case of breathlessness, fever or chills, consult your doctor immediately.
