Drinking while standing to gulping it down too soon, top 5 water drinking mistakes you are committing too often

We all know that water is an important component of our body, which is 60 per cent fluids. Water is required by the human body for all metabolic processes.

It helps keep our body healthy, which is why the moment you get dehydrated, you start feeling fatigued and lethargic.

It isn’t just about drinking enough water but also having it the right way. Not having water correctly can do more harm than good.

Here are five common mistakes that you can make while drinking water, which you must avoid.

2/6

Drinking water while standing

How often does your mom remind you not to have water while standing? There is a reason why she’s so adamant.

As per Ayurveda, when you drink water while standing, you do not get the nutrients from the water as it goes into your lower belly. Water, when consumed standing can be bad for your health and put you at risk of various health issues.

When you drink water while standing, it gushes through your system not really reaching the organs it should.

3/6

Having bigger sips and gulping it down too fast

Quickly gulping down water doesn't solve the purpose of having it. When you have it fast, the impurities that are supposed to go out get deposited in the kidneys and the bladder.

Having water slowly and taking small sips can help in strengthening your digestive system and improve your metabolism.

4/6

Drinking water right before or after having a meal

When you drink water just before a meal, then you cannot eat properly as you feel full. If you don't eat properly, you will not get enough nutrition. And,if you drink water right after having a meal, it disrupts your digestion. It can even cause constipation and nausea.

5/6

You are drinking too much water

Though most people don't drink enough water, there are a few who overdo it. Even when it comes to water, there can be‘too much’. Besides, drinking extra water has no health benefits.

In fact, drinking extra water can cause hyponatremia, also called water intoxication. In this condition, the sodium levels in the body can become too low, leading to swelling in the brain, coma and seizures.

6/6

Not drinking water before and after a workout

Many people do not have water before and after a workout. This can cause a headache. One must drink at least 250 ml of water about half an hour before working out.You should also keep sipping water in between the workout.

Once a certified doctor comes in and proves these statements false, I will refrain from following the listed precautions. But seeing how no one of medical authority seems to care to take down this article, I don't see how it's wrong to follow this advice. For all you know, people, this author is actually right.
