5 Yoga asanas that help improve skin health and give a natural glow

The skin is the body's largest organ, acting as a protective barrier and playing a key role in temperature regulation and sensation. While genetics, your diet, sleep and good skin practices (cleaning, toning, moisturizing, sunscreen) etc play a huge role in skin health, do you know that Yoga too can help you achieve a glowing skin? Of course, you have to practice it along with other lifestyle changes, but here are 5 Yoga asanas that improve skin texture, elasticity, and bring a healthy glow, when practiced in the long run...

2/6

Bow Pose

The Bow Pose, called Dhanurasana, is considered excellent for getting a glow on your skin. In this pose, you lie on your stomach, bend your knees, and hold your ankles, lifting your chest and legs off the floor like a bow.

This asana puts mild pressure on your abdomen, helping detoxify your body by improving digestion and stimulating your internal organs, so that all toxins are removed. It also increases blood flow to the face and pelvic region, which fosters skin health and helps flush out toxins. Practicing Bow Pose daily can release tension in the abdomen and strengthen your core, leading to healthy, glowing skin, that is all natural.

Triangle Pose

Triangle Pose, called Trikonasana, is a standing pose where you stretch your legs wide apart and reach one hand down to your ankle while extending the other hand upwards, forming a triangle shape.

This pose increases blood circulation to your head and face, ensuring that oxygen and essential nutrients reach your skin in the correct manner. It also opens up your shoulders and stretches your hips, improving overall body flexibility and balance. This helps clear skin blockages, and also removes free radicals, which can cause premature aging, and also issues like pigmentation and adult acne.

4/6

Cobra Pose

In Cobra Pose, also called Bhujangasana, you lie on your stomach and lift your chest off the floor using your back muscles, keeping your hands on the ground for support.

This asana expands your chest and lungs, improving breathing and distributing oxygen flow throughout the body. The enhanced blood circulation nourishes skin cells and helps remove harmful toxins, which can reduce acne, delay premature aging, and even out facial muscles. Regular practice of Bhujangasana also helps elevate mood, and reduce stress, both of which benefit skin health in the long run.

5/6

Child Pose

Child Pose, called Shishuasana, is a resting posture where you kneel on the floor, sit back on your heels, and stretch your arms forward while lowering your forehead to the ground.

This pose helps release tension in the chest, shoulders, and back, promoting relaxation. It also is excellent at calming the mind and reducing stress, which is essential for healthy skin. When stress levels are low, skin conditions like acne and eczema often improve, and your complexion is more clean. Stress also leads to issues like under eye bags, uneven skin tone, and pigmentation, all of which can be improved through Yoga.

Shoulder Stand

Shoulder Stand, called Sarvangasana, involves lying on your back and lifting your legs and torso upwards, supporting your back with your hands.

This inverted pose boosts blood flow to your face and scalp, which helps nourish skin cells and balance hormones. Balanced hormones can reduce skin breakouts and improve overall complexion. Doing this pose regularly can help maintain a youthful glow and clear skin.
