​What is Marjoram?


Tea fanatics around swear by this tisane, made by steeping Marjoram herbs in water. But what exactly is Marjoram tea and why is it so popular? Marjoram tea is made with an aromatic herb known as Marjoram, which hails from the mint family. Cultivated in the Mediterranean, North Africa and Western Asia for thousands of years, the flavour and subtle taste of this tea is often confused with the oregano herbs. However, the taste and aroma of Marjoram herb is slightly mild, minty, woodsy and delicate, which gives this tea a soothing taste and subtle lingering flavour.

​What exactly is tisane?


Tisanes are basically tea blends derived from flowers, herbs, spices, fruits and not basically from tea leaves. Interestingly, tisanes are way more healthier than regular leaf teas as they are naturally rich in nutrients. Marjoram tea is a tisane, which is loaded with vitamins A and C. Apart from that, this antioxidant rich tea has been used for ages as a healing drink to improve digestion, accelerate metabolism reduce menstrual cramps and heal painful menstrual cycles.

​How to make Marjoram Tea at home


Ingredients

1 cup water

1/4 teaspoon Marjoram

1 teaspoon honey(optional)

1 pinch Nutmeg

Take a pan and add water, once the water is hot enough add the dried Marjoram leaves. Allow the brew to absorb the flavour and nutrients from the herbs.

Strain the hot tea, add in a dash of nutmeg to enhance the flavour and add honey. Enjoy!
