Why to consume these 2 foods daily

The change of weather often disrupts the immune system and leads to bacteria-borne illnesses and, in the long run, impacts the overall functioning of the body. To deal with the change of season, Sadhguru once talked about two simple food habits that one can add to the daily routine to strengthen the immunity. Scroll down to read the details and their benefits.

Amla

He recommends consuming 1 small amla every day in the morning. He states, "Simply mash or crush one amla in a mortar and pestle and put a little salt on it and chew it for maximum benefits." He further adds, "It should be in your mouth for one or two hours." For the unversed, amla also help improve gut health, reduces acidity, and aids nutrient absorption.

3/6

Hot water

Another thing that he recommends is to drink hot water 4-5 times a day. He says that just plain hot water works or you can put a little bit of coriander or mint leaves. You can add a pinch of turmeric or lime juice and drink it regularly.

What does the study say

According to a study, amla is rich in antioxidant and bioactive compound content, including vitamin C, gallic acid, ellagic acid, and other polyphenols that help boost immunity by reducing oxidative stress, lowering inflammation, and enhancing the activity of immune cells. Amla is also known for its anti-microbial, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory benefits that boost immune health.

Benefits of hot water

According to experts, drinking warm water helps improve hydration, which is crucial for flushing out toxins and supporting the body's immune defenses by facilitating efficient elimination of waste and harmful substances. Hot water consumption also promotes better blood circulation which aids immune function by improving the delivery of immune cells and nutrients throughout the body.

How does turmeric help?

According to a study, curcumin compound found in turmeric promotes a balanced immune response by stimulating Th1 cells and increasing interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) production, which are critical for maintaining strong antiviral and antibacterial defense mechanisms, while also decreasing specific Treg cells that actively suppress immune activation.
