4 reasons to choose Tequila as your poison, if you are trying to lose weight

Planning to party this weekend, but worried about adding those extra calories and ruining your diet plans? Then you need to stop and read this! Here are four reasons why choosing Tequila is the best thing to drink without feeling guilty.

2/6

What is Tequila and is it really healthy?

Tequila is basically fermented agave juice, which is extracted from the Agave Tequilana species of Agave. However, the health benefits of this drink are limited to consumption of pure Tequila, which is fermented with 100% agave juice that too without any additives. Agave contains natural sugar, which is believed to be a healthier alternative to refined sugar and the health benefits come from the nectar of agave. However, a lot of research is still needed to establish this fact.

3/6

Good for weight management

As compared to other drinks, Tequila is considered to be a better alternative as it contains a type of sugar known as Agavins, which also helps in weight loss. Agavins is a natural alternative to sugar and are non digestible and do not spike sugar levels, which makes it a better choice for weight watchers, when consumed in moderation

4/6

Healthy bones

The presence of agave in Tequila helps better absorption of minerals like calcium and magnesium that help in boosting bone health. It also helps prevent brittle bones.

5/6

Improves Digestion

According to a study published in 2016 mentioned in a Medical Journal, it was observed that agave contains fructans and fructooligosaccharides, which acts as prebiotics. And the prebiotics are indigestible fibers that induce good bacteria and boost gut health and digestion. The same effect can be seen on consumption of one shot of Tequila post meal.

6/6

Sound sleep

A healthy and moderate consumption of Tequila occasionally may improve sleep quality. This is due to the ability of fermented agave to relax the nerves and muscles, heal gut health and improve sleep quality. However, it is advised to avoid dependency on the drink and consume only in moderation. Excessive consumption can increase triglyceride levels and clog the arteries, thus it is a must to drink wisely.
