Most popular dishes of lockdown 2020

The lockdown period of this year made people explore several activities, from cycling and gardening to painting and cooking, people utilized their free time in the best way possible. Cooking and baking was the most popular hobby, as people tried to satiate their taste buds in the absence of their favourite food items, which were unavailable because of the closure of food joints. Let’s take a trip down the year and look at some of the most popular dishes that we all made at least once during the lockdown.

2/9

Pani Puri

Street food lovers were the most distraught ones during the lockdown, especially those who are hardcore pani puri lovers. Many people satiated their gol gappa cravings by making them at home.

3/9

Pizza

With all our go-to pizza joints closed, homemade pizza was the only solution to our cravings. With the pizza dough available, all we had to do was spread some sauce, add some veggie toppings, cheese and bake it. It might not be as good as the one available in the market, but it served the purpose, right?

4/9

Samosa

Another street food that most of us missed was the crispy hot samosa. So, why not try them at home? Just prepare some potato stuffing, roll out the dough, fill the stuffing, give the shape of a samosa and fry.

5/9

Jalebi

The combo of Samosa and Jalebi makes the perfect pair. Hot and syrup loaded jalebis were another dish that most people tried at their homes. Just fill the batter in a bottle, pierce a hole in the cap and pour out jalebis directly in the hot oil. Once fried, dip them in sugar syrup to get the perfect sweetness.

6/9

Marble Cake

Also known as Zebra Cake, Marble Cake was another popular dessert during the lockdown. It was basically made by combining two different coloured batters in such a manner that the end result looks like marble. The zig zag pattern was also similar to the zebra pattern and was widely baked by people.

7/9

Momos

Missed momos wale bhaiya during the lockdown? Well, all the momo lovers resorted to steaming their own set of momos during the lockdown. People even made homemade spicy chutney to pair up with the momos. Filled with cabbage, carrots and onions, homemade momos tasted quite similar to the market ones, didn’t they?

8/9

Dhokla

Soft and spongy dhokla, with the perfect tempering on top makes the perfect tea time snack. Made with besan, dhokla can be prepared either in the microwave or even a cooker. Prepared in a jiffy, dhokla not only satiates your hunger cravings but also fills you up.

9/9

Dalgona Coffee

Last but not the least, the very famous Dalgona Coffee. You all might have tried hand beaten coffee before as well, but did you ever know that it was called Dalgona Coffee? Well, beating the coffee to get the perfect golden-brown colour might be a hard task but the end result is not only tempting to the eyes but also a treat to the taste buds.
