For most coffee lovers, coffee acts as a fuel that helps them get through the day and maybe even night. Having a lethargic day? Just have some coffee. Want to keep awake till night to study? Just have some coffee. Well, coffee might taste delicious and even have the potential to keep you awake, it is not the best option for you always. Having an excess of coffee can pose problems, as it might give you a sugar and caffeine overdose. Here are some healthier alternatives to coffee that can keep you awake as well. ​Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is a low-calorie drink that will not only keep you awake but will also aid weight loss. ACV is prepared with the help of fermented apples and contains a compound called acetic acid which is helpful for diabetes patients, as it helps in bringing down sugar levels. Just mix 1 tbsp ACV in a warm glass of water and sip on it slowly. You can also add ½ tsp honey to make the drink sweeter.

Matcha Tea is a green coloured beverage that is also said to be ‘Japan’s best-kept secret’. Matcha Tea contains caffeine but not as much as coffee. The matcha powder is a green coloured powder prepared by grinding matcha, which is a root plant. Matcha tea is prepared by mixing 1-2 tsp of matcha powder in boiling hot water and then whisking it well.

Who doesn’t love a warm cuppa of hot chocolate on a cold winter night? The combination of cocoa and milk is a caffeine-free alternative to coffee. Hot chocolate has similar tones to coffee and is the perfect drink to wake you up on a gloomy morning.

Smoothie is a complete meal in itself. Feel like having a light dinner? Just have a glassful of smoothie! You can make either milk-based or yoghurt-based smoothies, depending on the thickness you prefer. Make a combo of milk, banana and peanut butter to keep you awake for long. You can also add berries, apples or your favourite fruits to the smoothie.

Golden milk is a traditional Indian drink that is used to provide instant energy which further keeps you awake for long. The key ingredient used in the drink is turmeric, which is an amazing antioxidant. Also called ‘Haldi Wala Doodh’, Golden Milk should be consumed at night as it helps in digestion and detoxification of the body. You can add cinnamon, ginger, jaggery and even black pepper powder to the milk to make it tastier.
