How these homemade drinks reduce uric acid levels

Uric acid is a waste product formed when the body breaks down purines, which are found in foods like red meat, seafood, and alcohol. The kidneys filter and remove uric acid through urine. However, when the body produces too much or the kidneys fail to eliminate it properly, uric acid levels rise, leading to health issues like joint pain, kidney stones, kidney damage, inflammation, joint stiffness, metabolic disorders like diabetes and obesity, and more. In a recent YouTube video, Dr Hansa Yogendra, who runs the page called The Yoga Institute explained easy home remedies that reduce uric acid, relieve gout, and improve joint mobility naturally. These drinks are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and anti-inflammatory properties that restore balance in the body. This piece of information explores these homemade drinks, their benefits, and how one can make them at home.

2/5

Lauki Tulsi Cooler

As per Dr Hansa , it is a cool shower on your kidney. Lauki or bottle gourd is 96% water, which means it hydrates you deeply, while helping your body flush out waste products, especially uric acid crystals that can build up in your kidneys. Tulsi, known as the 'Queen of Herbs' is a natural detoxifier that reduces internal inflammation and supports overall kidney function. And together they work life in a gentle stream. As per studies, lauki's cooling, alkaline nature soothes the stomach, relieves acidity, reduces bloating, and helps maintain a healthy gut. Bottle gourd also contains potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure, reduces cholesterol levels, and supports overall heart function.
How to make it: Blend 1 cup peeled lauki with 4-5 crushed tulsi leaves. Strain and drink fresh in the morning. She suggested adding a pinch of rock salt and roasted jeera powder for taste.

3/5

Moringa Lemon Drink

As per Dr Hansa, this is an alkalinity booster. Uric acid thrives in an acidic body. Moringa leaves, also called drumstick leaves, have over 90 nutrients and are naturally alkaline, creating an environment where uric acid struggles to form. And lemon is rich in vitamin C that only alkalizes the blood but also helps dissolve uric acid crystals, so that they can be flushed out more easily. This drink doesn't just lower uric acid, but it also floods your system with antioxidants, keeping your joints supple and your energy levels steady.
How to make it: To make this drink, mix ½ tsp moringa powder in warm water, squeeze ½ lemon, stir well, and then drink it during mid-morning.

4/5

Amla Haldi Shot

She calls the drink an anti-inflammatory hero. When uric acid builds up, inflammation increases and amla or the Indian gooseberry is one of the richest sources of vitamin C, which helps neutralize uric acid. Turmeric on the other hand with its active compound curcumin is potently anti-inflammatory. It is capable of reducing swelling and pain at the root. Amla also has a low glycemic index and chromium content help regulate insulin levels, making it beneficial for diabetics. It is also said to help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol, reduces blood pressure, and protects the heart with its powerful antioxidants.
How to make it: To make it, mix 30 ml fresh amla juice with ½ tsp turmeric in warm water. Add a pinch of black pepper for better absorption and consume it in the morning.

5/5

Dhania Pudina Detox Water

It is a cooling cleanser, states Dr Hansa. High uric acid often causes internal heat, which makes swelling and pain worse. Coriander leaves are alkalising and help your body release excess uric acid through urine. Mint is naturally cooling; it soothes inflamed tissues and helps prevent the formation of uric acid crystals. Sip this slowly, especially after a heavy or high-protein meal, to ease discomfort and support joint health over time. You can even have it once or twice a day instead of regular tea.

How to make it: Boil a handful of coriander leaves and 7–8 pudina leaves in 2 cups of water for 3–4 minutes. Strain and drink warm or cool.
