Colour-soaked pradhanam and mehendi ceremony

Draped in bursting statement hues with fine embellishments and statement silhouettes, the ‘Virosh’ wedding has officially exceeded the boundaries of celebrity unions in India. Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s wedding festivities have eventually become a cultural event, where their pradhānam and mehendi ceremony looks like it has just gotten out and is already taking over the internet. The ceremony unfolded like a living, colourful mood board, where each piece looked timeless with impeccable taste.

From Anamika Khanna to Torani

For their main wedding, the couple turned to designer Anamika Khanna, but for their mehendi and pradhanam ceremony, Rashmika broke away from the usual bridal clichés and made heads turn in stunning Torani ensembles. The bride of the hour wore a structured off-the-shoulder corset blouse with a daring modern silhouette, which perfectly balanced her matching accessory. Her lehenga featured Torani’s signature patchwork, which came with hand-embroidered panels in shades of mustard, forest, and terracotta.

The delicate zardozi charm

What stole the show was the intricate zardozi detailing with mirror-work finesse, which caught the mehendi lights and looked absolutely iconic on her. She styled the look with a delicate golden layered haar which came in with vibrant pink flowers and matching stud earrings. She braided her hair with a trail of flowers and silk tassels, creating an ethereal charm that looked inspired by the goddess Radha Rani.

Vijay Deverakonda: The contemporary trailblazer

The groom of the hour, Vijay Deverakonda, matched his bride’s energy and wore a structured multi-panelled jacket from Torani, where the detailing on his sherwani was inspired by nature motifs. Ditching the usual shades from the men’s corner, he opted for an embroidered jacket with subtle fluidity and teamed it with a lungi-style blue lower, bridging the gap between comfort and couture.

But what is the pradhanam ceremony?

We are all aware of the mehendi ceremony, which is a common pre-wedding ritual taking place across India. But the Pradhanam ceremony is part of South Indian culture, where a decorative pot is filled with milk and rose petals, and a gold ring is dropped into this mixture. It is placed at the mandap, where the bride and groom dip their hands to find it, turning the moment into a friendly competition. This ritual is also followed in North Indian weddings, but it is mainly carried out after the wedding ceremony, when the bride enters the groom’s house for the first time.
