5 novels by Cecilia Ahern that will change your perspective towards love and life

Mostly known for her debut Young-adult novels, Cecilia Ahern has been writing romance for nearly twenty years now, writing a book every year since 2003. Despite being such a consistent, well-received author, most of her works’ excellence remains unknown to the world except PS I Love You which has been adapted into a film. Like her debut novel, Cecilia transcends the physical realm of existence vis-à-vis love and in many of her books; Love has been explored from multiple obscure angles that will give the reader a novel approach towards love and life. Here we bring to you five of her most promising books that are simply magical!

If You Could See Me Now

Elizabeth Egan is in the middle of a very busy life-raising her sister’s child Luke, running a small business of her own and keeping up with the arbitrary presence/absence of her sister. Finding love is the last thing she has time for, but probably the thing that she needs the most in her life. When Ivan enters their life, he turns it around making Elizabeth wonder if he is too good to be true, literally!

A Place Called Here

All of us lose things and people in life. We also get lost, don’t we? The protagonist of Cecilia’s novel, Sandy, is obsessed with finding lost things and people. When Jack’s brother Donal goes missing he tries to approach Sandy only to find her missing! Meanwhile Sandy has found the place where she finds all the people and things she lost, she herself is lost and now wants to desperately find her way back home. Sounds complicated, but is actually quite simple. A different take on the human condition, dive into this excellent piece of writing only to get lost in Sandy’s world!

Lyrebird

A sweet love story of Laura and Solomon, Lyrebird is set in a small village where Laura lives. She can mimic almost any sound which earns her the name of ‘Lyrebird’ throughout her village. Solomon is part of a crew in which he handles the sound department. When Solomon’s crew visits Laura’s village for a project, it recognizes Laura’s talent and offers her a position. Will this opportunity set her free or captivate her further? Exploring the wild side of the human heart, Lyrebird is not an ordinary love story and shouldn’t be missed by book lovers.

The Gift

Is love always romantic? Can only old, wise people teach you the significance of things? Breaking all conventions, The Gift is the story of Lou, who wants more time and Gabe, who craves warmth. Set in Christmas time, The Gift is a story of two lives that are changed when they intersect.

How To Fall in Love

The title makes the book seem like a Self-help guide, but the novel is actually the story of Adam and Christine. Adam is a thirty-five year old and suicidal. Christie is in love with life and is keen to help anyone who she feels needs it. When she sees Adam almost ready to commit suicide, she dissuades him from taking the step and promises to give him a reason to live. Their journey thus begins. The novel simply defines how love gives meaning to life, and takes yet another unprecedented perspective on romance, which is the author’s forte.
