Glowing skin tips for Karwa Chauth 2025

During Karwa Chauth, the prolonged fast and lack of hydration can stress your skin. But with a mindful skincare and wellness routine planned in advance, you can still look radiant and fresh. The key is to support your skin both internally (nutrition, sleep, hydration) and externally (gentle care) so your complexion remains luminous despite the challenges of fasting.

2/6

Hydrate well before and after the fast

Since water cannot be consumed during the day, make sure to hydrate thoroughly during the pre-dawn (sehri) and post-sunset meals. Include water-rich foods like cucumbers, melons, soups, and coconut water. This keeps the skin plump, supports circulation, and prevents dryness or tightness throughout the day.

3/6

Gently cleanse your face twice a day

Wash your face in the morning and evening with a gentle, non-stripping cleanser to remove dirt, sweat, and impurities without disrupting the skin barrier. Avoid harsh sulfates or aggressive scrubbing, especially on the fasting day, as your skin may be more sensitive. A mild cleanser ensures your skin remains clean and able to absorb skincare effectively.

4/6

Exfoliate and brighten in moderation

In the days leading up to Karwa Chauth (not on the day itself), exfoliate lightly 1–2 times to remove dead skin cells. Opt for mild chemical exfoliants like AHAs or fruity enzymes instead of gritty scrubs. Add an antioxidant serum such as vitamin C to even out skin tone and enhance your natural glow.

5/6

Lock in moisture and protect your barrier

After cleansing, use a moisturiser suited to your skin type, hydrating gels with hyaluronic acid for oily skin, or richer creams for dry skin. A few drops of facial oil or a barrier-repair serum can also help. Protecting the skin barrier prevents water loss and keeps dry patches at bay, ensuring your skin feels comfortable throughout the fast.

6/6

Prioritise sleep, rest, and stress relief

Skin renewal happens at night, so aim for 7–8 hours of restful sleep. Poor sleep elevates cortisol, which can trigger dullness and breakouts. Balance this with stress management through yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises. A calm mind and well-rested body naturally reflect as clearer, glowing skin.
