5 reasons your skin looks dull

Do you know look at your old photos and often feel that your skin looks duller than before now? We feel you! One of the most common beauty problems faced by many women is that of dull skin. Your face can reflect a lot on what's going on with your body. To give you an insight, we have charted the five main reasons your skin looks dull and how you can get that glowing complexion:

2/11

Problem: Dead skin cells

One of the key reasons your skin looks dull is dead skin cells. The build-up of dead skin can make your face look greyish and dull over the years.

3/11

Solution

You need to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. If you have sensitive skin, go for natural homemade scrubs. When scrubbing, make sure you exfoliate at night and not in the morning to avoid sun damage.

4/11

Problem: Your skin is dehydrated

Another reason your skin seems dull is dehydration. When your skin is dehydrated from within, it can look sallow.

5/11

Solution

Drinking lots of water is key to keep your body hydrated. Also, indulge in moisturising your face every morning and at night. If you still feel your skin is dehydrated, indulge in face oils and serums before you apply a moisturiser.

6/11

Problem: Sun Damage

The worst damage your skin can face is by the sun. From dark spots to hyperpigmentation, your skin can get dull over the years with sun exposure.

7/11

Solution

We know it's impossible to avoid the sun. The best thing you can do is to apply sunscreen daily. With sun damage, skin collagen gets weakened. To boost your skin's collagen, you can start using a retinol-infused product under a dermatologist's supervision.

8/11

Problem: Pollution

Your skin can take a toll, courtesy the growing pollution in the city. It can create free radicals in the skin, which break the collagen. This can make yous skintone uneven.

9/11

Solution

Once you get home, you must wash your face. This way you can get rid off all the dirt and pollutants that have been in contact with your skin. Experts suggest using a cleansing brush (with face wash) can also help to get rid of tiny particles of pollution. For skincare products, you can invest in serums and lotions with Vitamin C and antioxidants.

10/11

Prblem: You're stressed

Believe or not, stress can take a toll on your skin. When the stress hormone increases, the blood flows to the vital organs and not the face. This can be one of the big reasons your skin looks sallow.

11/11

Solution

While cleansing and moisturising, gently massage your skin. This will help to stimulate blood flow and make your skin look radiant.
