Injured actors prefer to shoot without halt

Injured actors prefer to shoot without halt:

With more than 20 soaps running successfully on Marathi channels, it comes as no surprise that actors are working round the clock to fulfil their commitments. However, it is not easy to juggle work shifts. And some stars don't even let injuries or illness affect their hectic work schedules. We spoke to a few stars who despite suffering from injuries have been working relentlessly to ensure that their shows are not affected.

CHINMAY MANDLEKAR:
Show: Tu Maza Sangati

Chinmay who is playing Saint Tukaram in Tu Maza Sangati, encountered three accidents, between December 2014 and February this year. In December, Chinmay was shooting for a horse riding sequence when he fell off the horse and hurt himself. Later, the actor hurt himself on the sets when a swing used for the shooting came off the hook. And this wasn't all. Chinmay escaped with minor injuries last month when his car was hit by a speeding truck when he was returning home from shoot. Talking about the accidents, the actor said, "I made sure that none of the mishaps affected my work. If I miss shooting, the shows will get affected since I play the lead role. We need to be professionals."

But when Nakshatra was required to shoot some important sequence, she decided to apply heavy makeup to conceal the marks on her face and continued shooting for further episodes. The actor said, "It was very unfortunate that when I began shooting for this highly anticipated project, I was down with chicken pox. I rested for a few days but I realised that I had to honour my work commitments. So I applied heavy makeup and continued shooting."

Sanket (Samar Bhagwat) injured his foot earlier this month when he was getting ready to shoot an important song sequence for a channel. But this did not stop the actor from shooting continuously for 18 hours at a stretch. Only when the pain became unbearable did Sanket feel the need to consult a doctor. "The shooting for my show was halted for 10 days. But since the show has to continue, I will resume shooting with a cast on my foot," said Sanket.

SUKANYA KULKARNI
Show: Julun Yeti Reshimgaathi

Sukanya who is playing Maai in the popular show Julun Yeti Reshimgaathi, hurt her right arm when she tripped and fell while taking a stroll in the market. The actor had a torn ligament, but this did not stop her from shooting. She was seen with a cast around her arm throughout January . "We had to change the plot because of my accident. Since I was shooting with the cast, the makers of the show introduced a plot which showed that I have met with an accident while playing with the children of an orphanage," said Sukanya.

Amit Chhallare, director of the popular daily show Julun Yeti Reshimgaathi said, "It is heartening to see that the actors these days are professionals and avoid delaying the shoot. Since we shoot for daily soaps, it is difficult to keep a bank of episodes. It is a nightmare if actors/directors fall ill.If at all there is any untoward incident, we try and introduce changes. Recently, we had to change the storyline when two of our important actors met with accidents."
