NEW DELHI: Two days ahead of the voting in Madhya Pradesh, Congress stepped up focus on the Narendra Tomar tapes, with Indian Youth Congress on Wednesday leading a protest outside the office of the Enforcement Directorate to question why the agency had not launched a probe into the revelations about alleged financial dealings involving the senior BJP leader and Union minister and his son.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, "It is clear that the corruption by Tomar is being protected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Or else, they should take action. Since you are very fond of playing the ED games, when will the agency visit Tomar's residence?"
Tomar's son has termed the video fake. Ever since the tapes came out, Congress has launched an aggressive campaign demanding that the Modi government order a probe into the facts that have emerged in the videos. The surfacing of the man said to be in the video calls with minister Tomar's son, and his corroboration of the claims made in the videos, has amplified Congress focus on the scandal that has rocked MP elections.
Youth Congress president BV Srinivas, heading a rally of workers outside the ED office before being detained by the police and shifted in a bus, said, "There are two laws in the country, one for the opposition and the other for BJP leaders led by Modi and Shah. It is very unfortunate in a democracy."
He said the issue involves transactions worth crores with middlemen, and the agencies from ED to CBI to income tax are watching silently as if nothing has happened.
