NEW DELHI: There has been a virtual split in the Hizbul Mujahideen with four members of the outfit’s central command supporting the peace process and condemning the recent expulsion of Abdul Majid Dar.
According to official sources, these leaders — Shamsher Khan, Majid Jhangavi, Riaz Ghulam Rasool and Khalid Saifullah — at a meeting in Srinagar on May 8, resolved to support the efforts of Dar in moving towards a dialogue with the government to resolve the political impasse in J&K.

These four add to the list of four other commanders who challenged the authority of Hizbul Mujahideen supremo Syed Salahuddin and have said they form the real collective leadership of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
