Pune-based vaccine major Serum Institute of India (SII) said there is no direct evidence to prove that the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine offers protection against Covid-19. The SII is one of the key manufacturers of the MMR vaccine in the country. The institute’s statement to TOI on Sunday comes amidst nationwide reports of adults queuing up for MMR vaccination in hopes of a defence against the coronavirus. The MMR is administered to infants at nine months of age.
