NEET exam preparedness review held in high-level meeting

A high-level meeting was held late on Thursday night at the residence of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan to review preparations for the upcoming NEET examination, according to official sources cited by ANI.

Sources said detailed discussions were held on exam logistics, coordination and preparedness measures ahead of the national medical entrance test.

The meeting was attended by Secretary (Higher Education) Vineet Joshi, Secretary (School Education) Sanjay Kumar, DG of NTA Abhishek Singh, CBSE Chairperson and Commissioners of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), along with other senior officials.

Delhi LG directs to waive entry fees till 10 am for morning walkers

Delhi LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to waive the entry fee till 10.00 am for morning walkers at DDA parks, greens and heritage sites where entry tickets are presently being charged.

NIA files chargesheet against 10 accused persons in Red Fort area car bomb explosion case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a 7,500-page chargesheet against 10 accused persons in the Red Fort area car bomb explosion case, in which 11 persons were killed, and several others were injured. The high-intensity Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast that rocked the national capital on 10th November 2025 had also caused extensive damage to the property.

All 10 accused, including the main perpetrator, Umer Un Nabi (deceased), were linked to the organisation Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH) – an offshoot of the Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), as per the charges filed before the NIA special court at Patiala House Courts in New Delhi.

Around 24 children from Bihar have been rescued at Bengaluru Railway Station after they fled a madrasa in Tumakuru, alleging harassment by a cleric, according to Tumkur Rural Police. The incident occurred at Jamia Arabia Hasinia Trust in Amlapura, Tumakuru.

An FIR has been registered against the cleric and a case has been filed under the Juvenile Justice Act and the Child Labour Prohibition Act.

Russia launched a large-scale drone and missile attack on Kyiv early Thursday, injuring at least four people and damaging residential buildings across multiple districts, local authorities said. Kyiv Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko said ballistic missiles and drones targeted the capital, causing widespread destruction.

In the Darnytsia district, part of a multistorey residential building collapsed, trapping people under rubble. Ukraine’s emergency services said at least 10 people were rescued.

Explosions were heard across the city, hours after another Russian strike that, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, killed at least six people and involved around 800 drones.

India News Live Updates: National Investigation Agency takes over Kerala explosives seizure probe

The National Investigation Agency has taken over the investigation into the seizure of a huge quantity of gelatin sticks and detonators from Tirurangadi in Kerala’s Malappuram district earlier this year, officials said on Thursday.

The case relates to the recovery of 89,600 gelatin sticks and 10,500 detonators from an onion-laden lorry at Chemmad near Tirurangadi on February 7. Kerala Police had arrested six people and initially believed the explosives were meant for illegal quarrying.

However, the NIA decided to conduct a detailed probe considering the scale of the seizure. Officials said investigations would focus on the origin and supply chain of the explosives, which police traced to Bijapur in Karnataka.

The body of the second of two missing US soldiers taking part in the African Lion 2026 military exercises in Morocco has been recovered, the US Army said on Wednesday. The pair had disappeared near a cliff on the Atlantic coast during the international training exercise.

The remains of the two servicemembers, including 19-year-old specialist Mariyah Collington whose body was found earlier in a coastal cave, have been transferred for repatriation to the United States aboard a US Air Force C-130 aircraft.

The US Army said search and rescue operations involving over 1,000 personnel have now concluded, while the incident remains under investigation.

Kolkata: Fire Station Officer-in-Charge suspended over Tiljala fire incident

The Director General of West Bengal Fire & Emergency Services has suspended Pragati Maidan Fire Station officer Goutam Das following a major blaze in Tiljala that killed two people. The fire broke out on 12 May at an illegal leather factory on Golam Jilani Khan Road, exposing serious safety and oversight failures. A joint inspection found the building lacked approved plans, fire safety systems and a sanctioned electricity connection.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has since begun demolishing the structure. Commissioner Smita Pandey said authorities would follow due process while taking necessary action against violations. Minister Agnimitra Paul also announced a wider crackdown on illegal buildings across the state. Meanwhile, residents affected by the demolition appealed for time to recover documents and prove ownership legality.
