Bombay High Court has asked the Income Tax department not to take any coercive action against businessman and Anil Ambani under the Black Money & Imposition of Tax Act. The I-T department had sought to prosecute Ambani under the Black Money (BM) Act for allegedly evading Rs 420 crore in taxes on undisclosed funds worth more than Rs 814 crore held in two Swiss bank accounts. On March 31, 2022, the Assessing officer had passed an Assessment Order u/s 10(3) of the BM Act, holding that Ambani had undisclosed foreign assets.

Hong Kong authorities on Wednesday charged seven people and two companies with offences including manslaughter and conspiracy to defraud over the city's deadliest fire in decades.

The massive blaze engulfed seven apartment buildings and killed 168 people on November 26, 2025. Former residents and relatives of the dead have been waiting for answers for months after the fire shattered the close-knit community of Wang Fuk Court, which housed thousands of people in the suburban district of Tai Po.

In a statement on Wednesday, authorities said police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption charged the suspects with 25 counts. Money laundering, attempting to pervert the course of public justice and tax evasion were also among the allegations.

The seven people played different roles in the major renovation project of Wang Fuk Court. The two companies charged are the project consultancy firm, Will Power Architects Company, and Prestige Construction & Engineering Co., the main contractor involved in the project.

Two soldiers died in an accidental grenade blast in Uri sector of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said. A hand grenade exploded accidentally during routine handing over of equipment at a camp in Kamalkote in Uri, resulting in injuries to two jawans, the officials said.

They said the injured jawans were shifted to the Army's 92 Base Hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Inquest proceedings as required under law have been initiated, they added. According to PTI, Srinagar-based Defence PRO said he would comment on the incident only after getting details from the concerned officials.

French President Emmanuel Macron will convene a videoconference on Thursday bringing together G7 members, China, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and several emerging economies in a bid to strengthen economic cooperation ahead of the G7 summit in Evian. The Elysee Palace said the initiative aims to ease economic tensions and foster balanced, sustainable and shared growth, while contributing to broader discussions ahead of the G20 summit in the United States later this year. NASA on Tuesday announced the four-member crew for its Artemis III mission, a key step in the agency’s plan to return humans to the Moon and eventually send astronauts to Mars. The crew, comprising NASA astronauts Randy Bresnik, Frank Rubio and Andre Douglas, along with European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano, will not land on the Moon but will orbit Earth while rehearsing docking procedures between the Orion spacecraft and lunar landers being developed by SpaceX and Blue Origin. The two-week mission is targeted for 2027 and follows the record-setting Artemis II flight around the Moon earlier this year. NASA said the mission is part of a revamped Artemis programme aimed at accelerating lunar exploration, with a crewed Moon landing currently envisioned for 2028.

US President Donald Trump announced that William Pulte, who has been working closely with Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, will assume the role of Acting Director of National Intelligence on June 19. Pulte will continue to serve as Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and Chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac while taking on the additional responsibility, according to the announcement.

A 12-year-old girl who had been missing for five days was found dead in a river in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, police said. Following the recovery of the body, authorities constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding her death. The incident has sparked concern in the area, with investigators working to determine the cause of death and whether any foul play was involved.
