X down worldwide: Users report "Something went wrong. Try reloading" errors

Social media platform X, faced a downtime today and it has sent online users into a frenzy.

Social media is our modern town square, where news breaks, memes explode, and conversations never sleep. X has been one such platform, that is the go to platform, for those raw trends that become viral sensations that don't let people keep away from their screens.

X faces global outage

On February 16, X crashed for thousands worldwide, including heavy hitters like India, the US, and UK. Users vented about blank feeds, failed searches, and app crashes around 7:30 PM IST. There was a surge knocking out access across regions, with Downdetector logging around 41,331 global reports by evening, with 1,600 from India alone starting at 7:10 PM.

What all issues did users face?

Downdetector pinned 53% of glitches to the X app, 22% to feed loading, and 16% to the website. Forbes reported over 40,000 peak complaints hitting app and desktop versions. Users faced "Something went wrong. Try reloading" errors, flocking to rivals like Instagram for outage confirmations.

No Word from X or Musk

Elon Musk's platform has not issued any statements so far, there were no tweets from @X or @elonmusk explaining the reason behind the down time.

How was India impacted by the outage?

India led with 3,357 reports by 7:30 pm per Downdetector, amid its evening prime time.


X bounced back partially for some, but no all-clear yet.
