‘That’s someone’s monthly salary’: Internet shocked by Rs 1.1 lakh rent for Bengaluru 3BHK
Bengaluru’s rental market is once again being discussed heavily online after a property listing from the city went viral on social media. The post featured a 3BHK apartment in one of Bengaluru’s prime locations with a monthly rent of Rs 1.1 lakh, leaving many people surprised and sparking fresh conversations around the city’s rising housing costs. The listing also mentioned a security deposit of Rs 4 lakh. While many users online were shocked at how expensive the apartment was, others said such prices are becoming common in premium parts of Bengaluru, especially in areas close to major office hubs and upscale neighbourhoods.“A 3BHK on rent for 1.1L in Bangalore???That's actually someone's monthly salary,” the tweet read.

Apartment located near key office areas

According to the listing, the apartment was located near Embassy Golf Links Business Park, close to Domlur and Indiranagar. The semi-furnished corner flat was spread across nearly 1,800 square feet. The property included a balcony, private terrace, puja room, modular kitchen, and wooden flooring in the living room.
The residential complex also offered several amenities, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis and squash courts, skating rink, landscaped gardens, and a community hall.Apart from the monthly rent, maintenance charges of around Rs 6,000 were also mentioned in the listing.

Internet users share mixed reactions

As screenshots of the listing circulated online, people reacted strongly to the pricing.Several users said Bengaluru’s rental costs have become difficult for salaried professionals, especially for those trying to stay near office locations to avoid long travel hours in city traffic. One user wrote, “The rents are absurd in Bangalore. People who are paying this are responsible for such mad rent. Mostly these flats are shared by 3-4 people. So they still take it anyway.”Many users also pointed out that sharing apartments with flatmates has become common in expensive parts of the city.

Some users defend the pricing

At the same time, some people online argued that homes located close to major business hubs and upscale neighbourhoods naturally come with higher rents.A second user wrote, “Ummmm, Anshika, the location mentioned is walkable fromIndranagar. It is akin to South Bombay literally. 1 lakh is a justified rent. And the ones who stay there earn 10-20L per month for sure.”Others also discussed the property value and rental returns while reacting to the viral post.A third commented, “The cost of the flat is above 3 cr. If rent doesn't even give half of the bank interest, then what's the use of buying this flat? That's why rent is that much. People should buy flats only if they want to live. Never buy for investment unless it's under construction phase and can exit.”Disclaimer: The reactions and opinions shared in this article are taken from social media posts and online discussions.
