Hansika Motwani: Journey of the actress in films so far

Right from being a child artist to playing a lead in films, Hansika Motwani has come a long way. The actress has successfully completed 11 years in the industry as an actor. Be it a passionate lover or simply a girl-next-door, she played it all. As she tunes a year older today, on August 10, we trace her journey in the showbiz so far.

​As a child artist

Hansika Motwani started her career as a television actor. She featured in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Aabra Ka Daabra’, ‘Jaago’ and ‘Hum Kaun Hai?’ as a child artist. In ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, Hansika was seen alongside Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta as one of the kids in the film. She became a child star with these television series and features films.

​Tollywood debut

Four years after her stint as a child actor, Hansika got a break in Tollywood with ‘Desamuduru’ opposite stylish star Allu Arjun. The film also starred Chandra Mohan, Ali, Telangana Shakuntala, Rama Prabha, Kovai Sarala and many others in key roles. The action drama had created magic among the masses and turned out to be a blockbuster hit at the box-office. Hansika not only got noticed but also impressed everyone. She played Vaishali who runs away from home to avoid her marriage with his uncle and settles as a Buddhist in Kullu Manali. Interestingly, the Mumbai native is a Buddhist. She was sixteen when she was roped in for the film.

​Biggest commercial success

Hansika and Ram Pothineni had worked together for the action entertainer ‘Kandireega’, directed by Santosh Srinivas. Produced by Bellamkonda Suresh under the banner Sri Sai Ganesh Productions and Multidimensional Entertainments Private Limited, the film won critical acclaim for performances of the lead artists, plot and hilarious narration. Upon its release, the film received mixed reviews for its routine commercial plot, but it gradually picked up and became a biggest commercial success not only for Hansika but also for Ram Pothineni.

Other hit films

She has been a part of hit films such as ‘Maska’, ‘Denikaina Ready’ and ‘Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda’ and ‘Power’, directed by B Gopal, G Nageswara Reddy, Sriwass and KS Ravindra respectively. In ‘Maska’, she had shared screen space with another leading lady Sheela Kaur and they played their parts like the competitors. In the Manchu family starrer, she played one of the leading ladies alongside Pranitha Subhash and she gave a strong competition to her contemporaries in many key scenes of the film. ‘Power’ was also a blockbuster hit in her career. In the film, she had essayed the love interest to Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja. Regina Cassandra is also one of the female leads in the film and both were perfect at their parts.

Previous and upcoming films

Hansika Motwani was last seen in the Sampath Nandi directorial film ‘Goutham Nanda’, which fared averagely at the box-office. She had essayed a middle-class girl Spoorthi who falls in love with a young man named Gautham in her colony. Since then, she hasn’t signed any Telugu film so far. Currently, the actress has her kitty full of Tamil projects.
